Provided by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the Project WOW curriculum enables students to explore physical, chemical, and environmental properties of wetlands. This kit is for the Runoff Race activity, available on pages 210-211 in the Project WOW book or downloadable as a pdf below. The full Project WOW curricula book is available in our library, or through attending a Project WOW workshop through STEM Library Lab.
Material:
+ 1 quart jar with lid
+ 1 sq meter of artificial turf
+ 2 flat sheets of wood or plastic (similar in size to the turf
+ 2 large, shallow aluminum pans
+ 2 pitchers of water
+ 2 sandwich bags of sand
+ 2 sandwich bags of gravel
+ 2 sandwich bags of rocks
